DLSG in Baguio

12- 13 November 2011

We left for Baguio at 4:00 a.m. on 12 November 2011. We rode a car to get there so we had to endure a six-hour drive. It was really foggy when we got to Central Luzon. The fog made it seem as though we were in a foreign country.

We had breakfast at a Chowking outlet in Tarlac.

A few hours later, we got to Kennon Road. The view was quite nice. We saw big mountains and a few waterfalls along the way. Some of the mountains were very much eroded due to landslides.

A few Pringles chips later (R.I.P. Sour Cream Pringles 2011 – 2011. You will be greatly missed.), we got to Baguio.

Our first stop was called Lion’s Rock (It’s actually Lion’s Park, Sean) or something. It was a giant rock that was sculpted and painted to look like a lion. When we got down, I didn’t feel the cold Baguio is well-known for. Instead, I felt the usual heat in the lowlands though a little cooler. We only took a few pictures before moving on because Giancarlo was complaining about the heat.

Our next stop was Philippine Military Academy. I felt the cold this time, but it was far from the bone-chilling cold I thought Baguio had. It was a big place with guns, helicopters, airplanes and of course, their cadets.

After that, we went to Camp John Hay to have lunch at a restaurant called Little John’s. The place had frames hanged on the walls of drawings by customers on placemats. We also saw an acquaintance of mine from school there.

After that, we went to many parks in Baguio City. First was Mines View Park. It offered a view of the valley on their viewing deck. We saw huge St. Bernard dogs on the way to the viewing deck.

After that, we went to Wright Park. It was directly in front of the Mansion, the place where the President lives in if he or she is in Baguio. The gate is said to be copied from the gate of Buckingham Palace, the Queen’s home.

I also dressed as a datu on the way.

After that, we went to Baguio Country Club. It’s on par with Disneyland Hotel on being the best hotel we’ve stayed in in all our travels, mainly because it had two rooms and two TVs.

We rested there for a while, then went to Burnham Park and went boating. Once in a while, the boat man let me and Giancarlo row but we got nowhere because we rowed in different directions.

After that, we attended anticipated mass at Baguio Cathedral, had dinner at a KFC outlet and went back to the hotel.

We didn’t do much on the next day. After a nice big buffet breakfast, we went to Baguio Country Club’s multi-purpose hall to watch Pacquio-Marquez III. That was all we did on our final day there.

It was kinda disappointing because we only spent two days there and only watched Pacquiao’s fight on Day 2. On the bright side, I did get tons of snacks for the drive to Baguio and back home.
